the process

  • Designed individual slide decks for each show to reflect its unique theme and aesthetic.

  • Carefully read through each show’s script to understand the storyline, time period, and cultural context

  • Conducted thorough research to ensure outfits accurately represented the show's setting and era.

  • Used Pinterest to gather visual inspiration and curate appropriate outfits for each character and scene.

  • Identified scenes requiring quick changes and made strategic outfit decisions to accommodate them.

  • Collaborated with actors to ensure they were comfortable with their costumes and confirmed they had access to similar clothing items.

The outcome

Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the collaborative nature of costume design and the importance of visual storytelling in performance. I developed strong research skills by immersing myself in different time periods and cultures, and enhanced my ability to translate scripts into cohesive, character-appropriate looks.

Communicating with actors taught me how to balance creative direction with comfort and practicality, while working during rehearsals and live shows helped me sharpen my problem-solving and time management skills. Overall, this project strengthened my confidence in creative styling, team coordination, and the behind-the-scenes work that brings a production to life.
